Brunswick Heritage Home Upgrade This is an alterations and additions project to an existing single storey weatherboard house in a heritage zone in Brunswick. The existing house was run down. The client's brief was to upgrade the existing building and add a new two storey building to the rear. The brief included a retreat like private parent’s space that avoided views from an adjacent apartment building. Long views into a park to the north of the site were important. In response to the clients brief and site conditions a restrained form was designed to maximize the building footprint. Glimpses of external colour and an expressive swathe of internal colour reflects the clients wishes. As a new personality in the street, and now again in this family’s life, the new house transforms the site and quality of life of the occupants.
