Brunswick East House 02

Alterations and additions to an existing brick veneer house in East Brunswick. The existing building is orientated east west and the new living spaces have been orientated to maximize the north light and to create a garden aspect. Materials are typically FSC or GECA certified, finishes are natural or low VOC.

Energy

• low energy light fittings were selected – compact fluorescent and low energy globes only
• solar photovoltaic cells were installed for power generation
• hydronic heating was installed

Waste

• installation of grey water diverters from laundry, shower / bath for use as subsoil irrigation in garden

Water

• collection of rain water for use in 2 no. toilets, the washing machine and the garden
• installation of a hot water recirculation system
• low water usage fixtures and fittings chosen

Materials

• cypress for all in ground timber
• low VOC paints
• recycled timber floorboards
• natural oil floor finish
• local products were chosen where possible
